Day 7: Custom-Made Chaise Cushions

Custom made cushions? For all those chaise lounges I don’t have?

Well I think my stolen Olive Garden chairs and the ol’ cooler are as close to chaise lounges as one really needs.

(Introducing the newest addition to the 60 days of bummer blogging team, Haley of emptysentiment.)

And that’s a good thing.

Day 6: Pack Travel Activities for the kids

Kids? That’s funny Martha, you must be talking about my abortions.

…alright that was a little crude I’ll admit it.

Day 5: Summer Essentials Checklists

Day five of Marha’s 60 Days of Summer suggests that we go and check out her essential checklists for shit you should bring to the beach, the woods and on vacation.

Well I live in central Texas and there is no beach or woods and I sure as shit don’t have enough dough to go on vacation. I’ve taken the liberty of making a handy summer checklist for my readers: living in the ghetto edition.

  • Deck of Cards (for playin poker. also acceptable: dice)
  • A mofuckin pittbull
  • Get yo nailz did

Follow these easy steps and you will be the laughing stock of my hood ready to hit the streets.

Day 4: Throw a Sprinkler Party

Day 4 of Martha’s 60 day Summer challenge is to throw a sprinkler party.
I love how Martha assumes I have friends to have a sprinkler party with. And a yard that isn’t all dirt.

But today is Margarita Monday and I forgot to even attempt the Martha challenge so I just decided to watch Indiana Jones while still half drunk.

Day 3: Pick Up a Summer Book

Day Three of the challenge: Choose a piece of literature to peruse during your super awesome summer

Martha was kind enough to round up a list her editor’s picks for summer reading, but I didn’t see my light reading for the summer on the list…

Day 2: Host a Picnic in Your Backyard

Day two of Martha’s 60 day challenge is to host a Picnic. In your backyard.

Because, as she puts it:

There’s no need to pack up the car and the kids to have a lovely picnic. Make delicious recipes and hit your backyard for an intimate, easy affair for a few or several.

Well when I think of intimate I think small and when I think easy homemade recipes I think cereal.

Behold my beautiful picnic in my weed ridden backyard, with my two best friends Cap’n Crunch and Jim Beam.

Day 1: Make a Tree Swing

Day one of Martha’s 60 day challenge is to make a tree swing.
Awesome. Martha you are a genius. If I make a tree swing on the first day of summer, then I’ll have a tree swing EVERY day of summer! What’s more fun than swings? Nothing. Thank goodness we have Martha around to tell us to get our asses in gear and rig up an instrument of funtime to the huge old oak in the front yard. She even has a photo of suggested styles.

Fuck Yeah! A TIRE swing! Fun and environmentally conscious.

Well all you need to make a tire swing is

  • a tire
  • a bit of rope
  • a tree

Sweet. Done.
Except I don’t have a tire… Or a bit of rope… Or a tree.

at least I have photoshop.

Summer fun 2k11.

(I guess you win this time Ms. Stewart… Martha: 1 Trixie: 0)

Martha Stewart Has graced us with her genius again.
